Psalm 96:3 “Publish his glorious deeds among the nations. Tell everyone about the amazing things he does.”
Jesus
I found myself at work caught in my own
world as people around me share their woes,
they ask me about the calmness that is me,
my only answer to the world, Jesus.
I lay in bed as I hear a troubled soul curse
imaginary foes as two women in my living
room discuss the abusiveness of men
as I write with my pen about Jesus.
The name that fills my space, that sits with
me through storms that rock my faith,
that told me he loves me as I cried in a
very dark place, Jesus.
The name that held me by the hand and
showed me the beauty of my mind that the
world told me not to like, told me I should hide,
the one that pulled me out into the light, Jesus.
The name that showed me the hidden side of fear
that held me in bondage, broke off many chains,
adopted me and told me that my new name is daughter,
the name that I give all praise, Jesus.
So when I found myself at work caught in my own
world as the people around me shared their woes,
when they asked me about the calmness that is me,
my only answer to the world, Jesus.
Job’s Song
Tremendous is the voice of God
that commands all of nature,
everything sits in his hands.
As gentle as the rain that pours
out his peace is as thunderous
as his words that form light.
His sound is the clap of thunder,
the direction of lightning.
His voice tells the snow which direction to go.
Everything under the sun is his
and moves as he tells it so.
Birds cannot fly without the wings
that God gave them,
wind cannot blow without his words.
Lightning can’t strike what he tells it not to,
rain cannot fall without his direction of down.
He is God almighty, El Shaddai and
the darkness can’t be unless he allows it.
His words speak of love and you are covered
by the light that belongs to the commander
of the waves in the sea.
Rejoice when the enemy jabs at your soul,
when your health seems to vanish
and all is in despair.
Sing of the face that he shows you
when the mountains go high and
valleys go deep, sing.
Free Will
Do with freedom what you will.
And what is that will?
The will of the Father or the will of your flesh?
Blood was shed to free you.
You have the choice in your hands to sin
and abuse the blood or appreciate its power.
Behold the beauty of the grace in it
and surrender to the instruction of it.
That after it dripped from the body
of Jesus and he was brought back to life,
you were given the advocate of truth illuminating
the hidden truths of the enticing darkness.
Which beauty will you accept?
The beautiful grace that is found in the blood
or the false beauty of the world masquerading
as freedom that really leads to death?
A freedom whose name is really bondage.
God is oppressive but partying and sex is not?
And what you don’t see is the demon
inside of the bottle,
the possession that takes place the
moment you drink.
So will you believe in the bounding freedom
that sends you to a burning grave
or will you accept the true freedom of Jesus
whose love broke the bondage of false freedom?
Jesus already died for all of mankind.
Do with that freedom what you will.
